Thoughts on January 6 – Five-year anniversary

It didn’t work. Capitol police officers and some protesters were hurt badly; others died. Trump watched on TV, calling GOP members trying to persuade them to vote against certifying the election he had lost.
Before that he was trying to get the Georgia Secretary of State to change the vote count by 12,000 votes so he would win the state. He was also trying to overturn his election loss in Arizona, but the leader of the state House of Representatives held firm. Similar efforts were mounted by Trump and his team in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan.
When it came time to try and hopefully convict Trump after he was impeached by the House, Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell dithered and blinked.
